Benny Avalos is a dancer, writer, and visual artist. A CSUEB graduate, he is deeply involved in and inspired by the Queer Ancestry Project.
June Banks is a fourteen-year-old singer, visual artist, & sometimes dancer. She’s performed in many different productions, and is happy to be part of Cracking Open.
Mia Holtan is a fourteen-year-old dancer, actress, & visual artist. She’s been onstage since she was five, when she performed in Kimiko Guthrie’s MamaLOVE with Dandelion Dancetheater.
Amy Marie choreographs and directs for her own company, A.V.I.D. She uses dance and theater to promote conversation and change about vulnerable topics politically, socially, and emotionally.
Savanna McGrew started moving to music at an African drumming concert in utero. As a breast cancer survivor, she celebrates life, and she enjoys doing it through dance. Cracking Open is her first dance theater endeavor.
Kati Pienimäki Schenker is a musician vocalist of many genres, performer, dancer, mother—keen to reach and touch hearts, search the in-between, break the culture of silencing, shine light on the invisible. She met Dawn in 2012 at Eric Kuper’s CSUEB IIE.
